2003-11-01: This amendment supersedes an existing airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to all Boeing Model 747 series airplanes, that currently requires periodic inspections and cleaning of the drainage system cavity of the canted pressure deck, aft of the wing center section. This amendment adds new repetitive tests and inspections for discrepancies of the drainage system of the canted pressure deck; and corrective actions, if necessary. This amendment also terminates the requirements of the existing AD. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent ice accumulation on the lateral flight control cables and/or components due to water entering the wheel well of the landing gear and freezing, which could restrict or jam control cable movement, resulting in loss of controllability of the airplane. This action is intended to address the identified unsafe condition.
2013-14-03: We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all The Boeing Company Model 727 airplanes. This AD was prompted by reports of cracks on the elevator rear spar stiffener assembly. This AD requires repetitive detailed inspections for cracking of the elevator rear spar stiffener assembly, and corrective actions if necessary. We are issuing this AD to detect and correct cracking of the elevator rear spar stiffener assembly, which could adversely affect elevator structural stiffness, which could lead to elevator vibration and possible interference with the tab control rod. These conditions could result in flutter and consequent loss of control of the airplane.
2013-14-07: We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Learjet Inc. Model 45 airplanes. This AD was prompted by a report that the fire barrier seal on the external baggage door does not seal the surrounding door structure due to incorrect positioning of the barrier. This AD requires modifying the fire seal on the baggage door, including doing inspections of the fire seal for correct contact and corrective action if necessary. We are issuing this AD to prevent improper sealing of the baggage door, which could increase the risk of an uncontained fire in the baggage compartment.
75-16-06: 75-16-06 SOCIETE NATIONALE INDUSTRIELLE AEROSPATIALE: (S.N.I.A.S. formerly SUD AVIATION). Amendment 39-2279. Applies to Alouette Helicopters SE3130, SE313B, SA315B, SE3160, SA316B, SA3180, SA318B, SA318C, and SA319B equipped with tail rotor gearbox, P/Ns 3130S.66.20.000, 3130S.66.30.000, 3130S.66.40.000, 3130S.66.50.000, 3130S.66.60.000, or 3130S.66.70.000 without modification AM 1004, or P/Ns 3160S.66.00.000 or 3160.66.10.000 without modification AM 1582. Compliance is required within the next 10 hours' time in service after the effective date of this AD, unless already accomplished in accordance with Lama Service Bulletin No. 01.03 for Model SA315B or Alouette Service Bulletin No. 01.29 for the other designated models. To prevent possible jamming of the tail rotor directional control, accomplish the following: (a) Determine the width of the top of the square thread at each end of screws P/N 3130S.66.23.002 or 3130S.66.50.016. If the width is between 1.5 and 2.0 mm, the assembly may be reinstalled without further work. NOTE: Access to the screws is gained by removing the tail rotor pitch change control shaft. (b) If the thread width is not within 1.5 and 2.0mm, rework the extreme end of the thread and reinstall the tail rotor pitch change assembly in accordance with Aerospatiale Service Bulletin No. 01.29 dated November 10, 1971 (except Aerospatiale Service Bulletin No. 01.03 dated November 10, 1971 for Model SA315B), or an equivalent approved by the Chief, Aircraft Certification Staff, FAA, Europe, Africa, and Middle East Region, c/o American Embassy, APO New York, NY 09667. This amendment becomes effective July 28, 1975.
2000-11-05: This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that applies to certain Air Tractor Incorporated (Air Tractor) Models AT-301, AT-401, and AT-501 airplanes that are equipped with a 3/16-inch thick aluminum fin front spar fitting and an all metal rudder. This AD requires that you repetitively inspect the vertical fin front spar attachment fittings for fatigue cracks, and rework the vertical fin if any cracks are found. This AD is the result of reports of a vertical fin front spar fitting failure on a Model AT-401 airplane. The actions specified by this AD are intended to detect and correct cracks in the vertical fin front spar attachment fittings, which could result in failure of the vertical fin. This condition could lead to loss of directional control and eventual loss of airplane control.
98-16-08: This amendment supersedes an existing airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to certain Airbus Model A300-600 and A310 series airplanes, that currently requires revising the Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) to instruct the flightcrew to cross-check certain primary power setting parameters of the Thrust Control Computer (TCC) against tables of these values; and apply corrective action, if necessary. That AD also provides for optional terminating action for the AFM revisions. This amendment requires accomplishment of the previously optional terminating action. This amendment is prompted by issuance of mandatory continuing airworthiness information by a foreign civil airworthiness authority. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent incorrect primary power setting parameters of the TCC, which could result in insufficient thrust being applied during takeoff.
2013-13-17: We are superseding airworthiness directive (AD) 2011-13-08 for certain Bombardier, Inc. Model DHC-8-400 series airplanes. AD 2011-13- 08 required a free-play check for excessive free-play of the shaft swaged bearing installed in the tailstock end of each elevator power control unit (PCU), and replacing any PCU on which the bearing exceeds allowable limits with a serviceable PCU. This new AD adds airplanes to the applicability from that of AD 2011-13-08. This AD was prompted by a determination that additional airplanes are affected by the identified unsafe condition. We are issuing this AD to detect and correct excessive free-play of the swaged bearings, which could lead to excessive airframe vibrations and difficulties in pitch control, and consequent loss of controllability of the airplane.
2018-20-13: We are adopting a new airworthiness directive (AD) for all The Boeing Company Model 737 airplanes, excluding Model 737-100, -200, - 200C, -300, -400, and -500 series airplanes; all Model 757-200, -200PF, -200CB, and -300 series airplanes; and all Model 767-200, -300, -300F, and -400ER series airplanes. This AD was prompted by reports of latently failed motor-operated valve (MOV) actuators of the fuel shutoff valves. This AD requires replacing certain MOV actuators of the fuel shutoff valves for the left and right engines (on certain airplanes) and of the auxiliary power unit (APU) fuel shutoff valve (on Model 757 and Model 767 airplanes); and revising the maintenance or inspection program to incorporate certain airworthiness limitations (AWLs). We are issuing this AD to address the unsafe condition on these products.
2012-12-15: We are superseding an existing airworthiness directive (AD) for The Boeing Company Model 757 Airplanes. That AD currently requires revising the Airworthiness Limitations (AWLs) section of the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness by \n\n((Page 42965)) \n\nincorporating new limitations for fuel tank systems to satisfy Special Federal Aviation Regulation No. 88 requirements. That AD also requires the initial inspection of certain repetitive AWL inspections to phase- in those inspections, and repair if necessary. This new AD requires actions that were provided previously as optional actions, and would require a certain initial inspection to be accomplished for a revised AWL. This AD was prompted by a report that an AWL required by the existing AD must be revised. We are issuing this AD to prevent the potential for ignition sources inside fuel tanks caused by latent failures, alterations, repairs, or maintenance actions, which, in combination with flammable fuel vapors, could result in a fuel tank explosion and consequent loss of the airplane.
2003-11-03: This amendment adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to certain Boeing Model 727, 737-100, 737-200, and 737-200C series airplanes, that requires one-time inspections to determine the part numbers of hydraulic accumulators installed in various areas of the airplane, and follow-on corrective actions if necessary. The actions specified by this AD are intended to prevent high-velocity separation of a barrel, piston, or end cap from a hydraulic accumulator. Such separation could result in injury to personnel in the accumulator area; loss of cabin pressurization; loss of affected hydraulic systems; or damage to plumbing, electrical installations, or structural members. This action is intended to address the identified unsafe condition.
